South Central Representative Candidates
Ana Herrera

I have been in adult education for 30 years. I enjoy my job, but the most rewarding part is seeing our students’ success. I enjoy helping our students achieve their goals. I attend events within our community to promote our program, such as the Mexican Consulate, County and federal offices, schools within our district, and any weekend events held for our parents.
I started at San Jacinto Adult Learning Center as an ESL and Citizenship teacher. A few years later I was moved to my current role, Adult Education Coordinator/Instructional Coach. I provide onboarding to our newly hired teachers and support all teachers in their instructional concerns, and step in and teach as needed. In addition, I help with testing, program development, and partner engagement. I was part of a committee along with my Ysleta and Socorro ISD colleagues that collaborated with El Paso Community College on a Career Pathways Model. I have worked with my Ysleta colleagues on putting together events such as the Literacy Symposium or professional development for our consortium.
I have formed partnerships at county and federal offices, El Paso Community College, Food distribution banks, National Veterans Outreach, and schools within my district. I maintain regular communication about student opportunities throughout the community at different events, or with colleagues within our district. I am a member of a Community Committee within the district where we collaborate and share services. I enjoy networking and creating new partnerships within the Far West. We provide a great service to our community, and I enjoy sharing with others about these opportunities.
