Patricia Hernandez
Patricia Hernandez currently serves as the Director of Adult Education at Alamo College District in San Antonio, TX, she manages eight grants with a team of nine educators and coordinates efforts with other agencies, Alamo Consortium, and throughout the Alamo Colleges.
She earned her master’s degree in developmental and adult education, and completed all course work toward a doctorate in Developmental Education. Patricia previously worked at Austin Community College (ACC) in different capacities for over 20 years, such as the Student Transition and Success Supervisor, GED Coordinator, and Grant Project Coordinator for Austin Community College (ACC) Adult Education Division. During this period, she managed the enrollment for the Adult Education Program, coordinated a nationally recognized 12-week intensive program called College Prep Academy that prepared students for the TSIA exam and college success. Additionally, she organized the annual National Adult Education Honor Society ceremony and College and Career for a Day events, she taught Continuing Education, Developmental Education, and Student Development Frameworks courses. Prior to this, she coordinated the ACC Adult Education GED program and an Adult Education Texas Workforce Commission workforce program, and taught classes in ACC Continuing Education (CE). Patricia is originally from San Antonio and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas where she earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, and recently returned back to San Antonio.
Over the years serving in Adult Education she has had the opportunity to work with faculty, team members, and community organizations to better serve the Adult Ed student. She served on the Board of the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Developmental Education, and for the last eight years she has proudly served as a TALAE Area Representative for either the Central or South-Central regions. She wants to continue serving Texas educators and field of Adult Education by taking on the role as TALAE Secretary. Please vote for Patricia Hernandez for TALAE Secretary.
