Student AwardsEach year, The Texas Association of Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) organization sets aside student membership dues to provide academic awards for TALAE student members who earn a high school equivalency and want to pursue higher education; and ESL students who have demonstrated exceptional determination through their effort, persistence, leadership, and community involvement. TALAE will be accepting nominations for the following Student Awards:

The High School Equivalency Adult Learner of the Year Award is provided to a student who has demonstrated leadership within the formal or non-traditional learning environments. This award is given to a student who has overcome difficult circumstances to pursue adult learning, who has supported other adult learners, and who has managed significant adult responsibilities such as those related to employment, family or community. Eight awards will be provided according the TALAE’s Regional Representative areas.

The ESL Persistence Adult Learner of the Year Award is provided to a student who has demonstrated leadership within the formal or non-traditional learning environments. This award is given to a student who has overcome difficult circumstances to pursue adult learning, who has supported other adult learners, and who has managed significant adult responsibilities such as those related to employment, family or community. Eight awards will be provided according the TALAE’s Regional Representative areas.

Nomination forms are only available online. The student, teacher, and director must all be active TALAE members.
